WHY IS FOOD EDGE DIGITAL THIS YEAR?

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the health risks associated with holding large in-person events, we needed to move the conference online. While going digital is a change from the Food Edge experience of years past, we are excited by the opportunity to broaden our reach with this new format. This year, attendees can connect from anywhere in the world, beyond the bounds of greater Boston and right from the comfort of their home.

We acknowledge that virtual conferences are no replacements to in-person events. Nevertheless, innovation is all about adaptation.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”
― Charles Darwin

And rest assured, our team has been working extensively over the past few months to ensure the same quality of content, speakers, and networking experience that you would have enjoyed by attending our in-person conference. Here are the platforms we will be using for Food Edge 2020:

Sched

Food Edge is hosted on Sched, a schedule manager that keeps online conferences’ information, sessions, ands resources organized in one place. Think of it as the virtual venue to which you go to attend Food Edge. Sched is trusted by many companies and universities worldwide, including Stanford University, Startup Week, and National Geographic.

Zoom

Our webinars and panel discussions will be hosted on Zoom, a modern and leading video conference platform. Zoom is used by more than 300 million people and many of us have grown familiar with the platform since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Remo

Our networking sessions will be hosted on Remo, which provides a delightful, immersive virtual space that empowers people to communicate, connect, and collaborate with each other just like they would in real life. why is food edge held in the morning?

We understand the disruptions and work complexities that the COVID-19 pandemic brought upon us, which is why we optimized the agenda for the digital era to ensure minimal disruption of your workday, provide you with concise content, and prevent low focus engagement or Zoom fatigue. Our programming spans 3 mornings, each of which comprises short webinars, panel discussions, and networking sessions aimed to provide you with maximum value in terms of learning and networking.

Sounds great, but I can’t attend all 3 mornings

We offer tickets for individual days at $99.00 and for 3-days at $249.00. If you know you can make most of the sessions on the 3 days, we highly encourage you to purchase the 3-day pass, which gives you 17% off. You can explore our various ticket offerings here.

All ticket holders will have access to the recordings of the sessions.
For non ticket-holders, you can still access the recordings by visiting our Food Edge on-demand page.

Will the sessions be live or pre-recorded?

All of our educational webinars, panel discussions, and networking opportunities will be live. While we recognize the value in having pre-recorded content, we opted for live sessions to ensure interactive Q&A discussions, engage around real-time networking experiences, and drive maximum value to attendees.

How can I be sure that I’ll get value in attending food edge?

The food industry is experiencing unprecedented change. Now more than ever, it is essential for entrepreneurs, leaders, and researchers to understand the latest disruptions in the food industry and be innovative. Just like in the previous years, we are inviting more than 20 leaders in the field to shed light on those transformations, reveal the latest trends and breakthrough technologies, and share their perspective on where they believe the industry is heading specifically in terms of agriculture, supply chain, retail, and consumption. Cognizant of the tremendous disruptions that stakeholders across the value chain have been witnessing, and drawing from Branchfood’s successful Serving Up Support webinar series, we are also prioritizing the transfer of actionable insights and practical takeaways that can be implemented in your business to adapt to the new normal and succeed in the years to come. Lastly, our emphasis on driving meaningful connections across the food value chain is still front and center. By leveraging innovative platforms such as Remo, that aim to humanize the online experience, we are ensuring an optimal online networking experience for all.

Food Edge is a unique opportunity to connect with individuals in the food innovation community who are shaping the future of food globally. If you’re looking to Learn, Connect, and Lead, we invite you to join us and can’t wait to see you there!

can i ask questions during the online conference?

Of course and we strongly encourage you to do so! Each session includes 5-10 minutes of Q&A with the speakers/panelists. All questions can be submitted via the Q&A tab on Zoom Webinars and will get live answers from our speakers.

i’m skeptical about networking online

We hear you, nothing beats an in-person, face-to-face experience, specifically when it comes to networking and the serendipitous connections made with fellow attendees. But don’t worry, our signature emphasis on driving meaningful connections is still front and center. In an effort to replicate as much as we can of the in-person experience, we will host our networking sessions on Remo, a leading platform that humanizes online events. The platform looks exactly like a venue with different tables where attendees can connect one-on-one or in small groups with others.

Do I need a Zoom Account? do i need to download the app?

You can access the sessions through your internet browser without creating an account or downloading the Zoom app. However, to ensure a seamless experience, we recommend you download the Zoom app.

How can I access the Remo platform?

On the day of the conference, we will direct you towards the Remo networking session. Once you tune in, you will need to create a short profile, but don’t worry, it’s easy and fast. We strongly encourage you to have your company website, LinkedIn URL, Facebook profile URL, and Calendly link ready ahead of time to immediately drop them in your profile and instantly connect with your fellow attendees during the session.
